GCSE and A level results are in for 2021 and let us tell you, we couldn’t be prouder. Our students got the good news last week and now we want to share it with the world — 94% of our learners achieved 9-7 GCSE grades and 100% A level students got A grades.

We’ll break down the numbers later on this page, but let’s just take that in for a second. 94 and 100% are extraordinary percentages that prove that hard work and our holistic approach to studying can work for everyone. We’re beyond excited for all My Language Lab tutees and want to congratulate each and every one of them on their incredible results. Well done!

GCSE and A Levels in 2021

Just like in 2020, this year’s exams have been affected by the ongoing pandemic. Students had to adapt to this model quickly since results were again awarded based on teacher assessed grades including mock exams (find our top advice to prepare for mock exams in our blog).

While some find this more approachable than the stress of exam day, many others find it hard to adapt to socially distanced school and tests and miss the structure of weeks or months-long revision plans.

It doesn’t matter where you stand — whether teacher assessed grades work better for you or not, you can acknowledge the extra pressure that these crazy times have put on you and congratulate yourself on your resilience

My Language Lab student results — 2021 GCSE and A levels

After the year we all want to forget, August marked some incredible news with record numbers of top grades for A-level exam students. But let’s look at the numbers in more detail.

Stats for 2021 exam results

  • GCSE results of our students: 94% GCSE 9-7 grades
  • A level results of our students: 100% A grades
  • On average, our GCSE students increased their personal grades by 2.0
  • All of our A level students got into their top-choice universities
  • All subjects have seen grades increase (some more than others), and even more sharply so when compared to pre-pandemic stats
  • In general, there has been a large rise in top grades in independent schools across the UK

Amazing news for uni admissions

We said it already — yes, 100% A grades is just astonishing news and we’re more than amazed. However, perhaps the best A-level data in our chart is that all our students got admitted into their first university of choice

We want to help students boost their confidence and meet their exam result goals but most importantly, we want languages to be a tool to use to follow their dreams and shape their own future. Exam results are just that, numbers that represent a specific performance. Knowledge and confidence, however, are what will take you wherever you want to go in your academic and professional life.

How My Language Labs results compare to 2020

As with anything in life, consistency is key. We’re proud to see that 2021 confirms what we’ve already seen before: My Language Labs students achieve consistently high results, year in, year out.

  • In 2020, 98% of My Language Lab GCSE students achieved 9-7 grades
  • In 2020, 96% of My Language Lab A level students scored A*-B grades

How My Language Lab can help you improve your grades

We believe that every single student can improve their grades, it’s just a matter of finding a method that works for them and receiving the right support for their individual needs.

This doesn’t mean that we do the same work with all our students — every learner is different and what works for one doesn’t necessarily work for others. That’s why a personal tutor is often the best way forward: they will give you or your child the time and personalised attention to figure out the areas to work on and come up with a study and revision plan that adapts to their specific profile

Visual learner? Great at listening but shy when it comes to speaking? Not a fan of vocab memorisation? Nerves playing tricks on you on exam day? Our tutors can address each of these and more!

What we cover in our sessions

If not all students are the same, exams, alas, are. So you can rest assured that in our sessions, we will cover all of the following and more:

Tuition formats

We don’t only offer private tuition. Social learners, for example, can sign up for group classes. And depending on your location, you can choose homeschooling and in-person tuition or online classes.

Whatever their format of choice, all our students have access to a digital learning dashboard that helps them manage their study and tuition calendar and material, get in touch with our tutors, and find plenty of resources to expand their knowledge.
