Overview of KS2 lessons

Children learning at this stage will follow a KS2-appropriate textbook so that the basics of the language can be learnt in a structured and educational yet fun way.

Our lessons are designed to help younger children broaden their communication skills, often because they have had a taster of the language at home, school or after-school/weekend clubs.

A variety of resources such as handouts, flashcards, photos, maps, songs and videos will be utilised to engage students. Basic grammar, verbs and tenses will be covered to provide a sound grounding both for students who wish to study languages further and those that are just learning for fun and exploration.

Classes focus on solidifying the foundations of understanding, asking and responding to questions, basic and more challenging sentence constructions, finding your way around KS2-style activities, familiarising yourself with accents and audio activities and improving overall confidence in speaking.

KS2 lessons are designed to improve your child's self-esteem, for students who are naturals and for those who find languages a little more challenging.

Most KS2 lessons will follow the following format:

1. Lesson recap – from last week’s class in case there are any follow-up questions
2. Syllabus topic work – we’ll study a topic on the syllabus covering key vocabulary, useful verbs and asking questions
3. Grammar and verbs – we’ll study these components during every lesson
4. Homework – there will be homework most weeks and students will be given access to the lesson resources, handouts and message board corrections made in class.
